There are few places that capture the essence of Taos quite like Bent Street. This charming stretch of boutiques, galleries, and artisan shops is where creativity and community meet—and yesterday, I was reminded all over again why it’s one of my favorite spots to spend an afternoon.
I began at Made Solid, where beautifully crafted leather goods line the shelves and the artistry is palpable. The attention to detail in every piece is remarkable, and the fact that they offer workshops where you can create your own leather coasters makes the experience even more engaging. It’s the kind of place where tradition and modern design meet seamlessly.
Next, I stepped into Boxie Tee's, a boutique brimming with charm. From curated clothing and playful accessories to an atmosphere that radiates style, every corner invites discovery. And yes—the dressing room is as fabulous as the selection itself, designed with a touch of whimsy that makes trying on clothes a joy rather than a chore.
I rounded out the afternoon at the Jones Walker of Taos gallery. Each room is thoughtfully curated, drawing you into a world of landscapes, artifacts, and hand-painted works that feel both timeless and immediate. It’s a space that encourages you to slow down and take it all in—a true gift in our fast-moving world.
It’s no surprise that Travel + Leisure recently named Taos the “Best Small Town Shopping” in America. Between the unique artistry, the sense of history, and the vibrancy of the community, Bent Street alone feels like a destination worth celebrating.
Whether you’re a longtime local or a first-time visitor, Bent Street offers a shopping experience unlike anywhere else. It’s more than just retail—it’s a reflection of the creative spirit that makes Taos so extraordinary.
